What time does school begin and end?
The Lafayette campus and Calvary campus, begin at 7:40 a.m. and end at 2:40 p.m. Children may arrive as early as 7:05 a.m., and must be picked up by 3:30 p.m.
The Opelousas campus, begins at 8:05 a.m. and ends at 2:35 p.m. Children may be dropped off as early as 7:30 a.m., and must be picked up by 3:20 p.m.
Is pre-school a full day program?
Yes, tuition for pre-school covers the hours listed above five days a week.
Does the pre-school have a cafeteria?
WCA preschools do not run a cafeteria system, but contracts with different vendors who bring meals to the campuses. Lunch tickets may be purchased at either campus and are an optional service, or students may bring a lunch from home. Milk is also available.
Do pre-school students wear uniforms?
No, uniforms are optional in pre-school. Parents may choose to purchase WCA uniforms from School Time, but these uniforms are not required until a student reaches first grade.
How can I be involved in my pre-school student's life at WCA?
Volunteer involvement at WCA is welcomed and encouraged. Teachers often have tasks and/or enrichment activities that can be enhanced by parent assistance. In addition, your teacher will let you know when class observation visits are scheduled so that you can make plans to attend and see your child's class in action.
On a day-to-day basis, parents are asked not to interrupt the classroom once it is in progress. Any messages or forgotten items may be left at the front office, and your student will receive them.
Is after-school care available?
At the Lafayette Campus, a number of day care providers pick up children at the end of the school day and provide after-school care at their facilities. In addition, several WCA teachers offer after-school care for WCA students at the Lafayette Campus and REACH provides after-school care for the Opelousas Campus. For additional information about after-school care at the Lafayette or Opelousas campues, inquire in the Admissions Office.
At this time, the Calvary Campus does not offer after-school care.
